This is an adaption of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel. There has been several movie adaptions of the book, including a successful Broadway play. The movie was filmed in late 2011, and had a December 2012 release date. It was pushed back to May 2013.

Many actresses were considered for the role of Daisy Buchanan, including, Amanday Seyfried, Rebecca Hall, Rachel McAdams, Keira Knightley, Blake Lively, Michelle Williams, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, and Scarlett Johansson.

Additionally, Ben Affleck was considered for the role of Tom Buchanan, but dropped out due to his commitments to his film, “Argo”. Joel Edgerton was eventually cast.

The film is already being labeled as a flop. Debuting on the heels of “Iron Man 3” it would have a difficult time finding an audience. Many new sites are also stating the “movie curse” that comes from the second weekend of the summer movie season.

The Great Gatsby needs to open with at least $35 million,” said Exhibitor Relations box-office analyst Jeff Bock to an email to E News. Analyst Doug Creutz wrote that the film could hit $150 million domestically. The films budget is $125 million plus

The film Kerry Washington as Grace Peeples and Craig Robinson Wade Walker as in his first leading role. It also starres David Alen Grier, Kali Hawk, and Diahann Caroll. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame Committee announced that Diahann Caroll was going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame while PEEPLES was filming.

The film centers around Wade wanting to propose to his girlfriend Grace and him wanting to meet her family. When Grace goes home to Sag Harbor, Wade follows and hilarity ensues.

The movie is getting mixed reviews from critics, while one cites the movie as ” Meet the Parents riff”. It currently holds a 38% fresh rating from Rotten Tomatoes.
